A classroom Music Teacher is based at Kalkie State School for 4 days per week to work with teachers and students presenting Education Queensland’s Music Programme.

Students from Year 3 - Year 6 learn to play a recorder in these classes and have the opportunity to play various other instruments such as keyboards, percussion instruments, etc.

Students from Year 2 are invited to join the Choir and from Year 4 the Recorder group which practises weekly during the lunch hour.

To cover the costs of the Drumband and Instrumental Music Kalkie has two optional School Resource Standards (SRS) in place that are available to reduce the upfront cost to parents with students in these programs. The purpose of each SRS is to allow a more cost effective option than purchasing of all required materials. More information can be found on the respective pages for these programs.
