Kalkie State School is located in the city of Bundaberg, Queensland. The school provides programs for children from prep through to year 6. We currently have 300 primary school students and a staff of around 30, which includes full-time and visiting teachers and support staff.

The school services the coastal and rural areas surrounding it and we are fortunate to have students from a range of backgrounds.

At Kalkie State School we strive to recognise and develop potential in every student. Our students' education encompasses a range of pursuits including academic, sporting, musical, artistic and personal development. We aim to give students the best possible start in life for the benefit of themselves, their families and the community.

Surrounding area

Bundaberg is a coastal Queensland city located approximately 370 kilometres north of the state capital Brisbane. The city and surrounding areas are home to around 50 000 people. Bundaberg enjoys a beautiful sub-tropical climate with warm temperatures all year round and is popular with tourists due to its location at the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef. A major industry in the city is sugar production and the surrounding areas are carpeted with lush sugar cane fields.

Bundaberg is well known for its 'Famous Bundaberg Rum' and its favourite sons and daughters including aviator Bert Hinkler and soprano Gladys Moncrieff. To find out more about the city visit Bundaberg Region site.
